Manchester United have made an offer for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo, as per reports.
As United head into their season-defining clash against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, the majority of fans are counting on Bruno Fernandes to pull a rabbit out of the hat.
They don’t have any other option either, as United attackers have had a truly abysmal campaign. Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee, and Alejandro Garnacho have all left supporters frustrated with their quality and decision making.
If 16th-placed Red Devils are to avoid another embarrassing season, the club’s hierarchy must sign new forwards and make Fernandes’ life easier.
A report in Spain suggests the Mancunians have made major progress in their bid to sign one of the Premier League’s best attackers.
According to Fichajes, United have submitted an offer close to €65 million (£54.6m) for Mbeumo.
It is claimed that the Brentford star’s quality is highly valued at Old Trafford.
However, the Spanish outlet fail to shine light on Brentford’s stance regarding United’s alleged bid. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Bees want £60m to sanction their talisman’s exit.
The 25-year-old is known for his pace and ball-carrying ability. Capable of playing as a right-winger and centre-forward, Mbeumo has bagged an incredible 19 goals in 37 Premier League appearances.
The Cameroon international is an equally impressive creator, having registered eight assists in the league this season.
It has been widely reported that United are interested in signing Mbeumo. However, it seems far-fetched to suggest INEOS have lodged a bid for a major summer signing before the Europa League final, as the club’s European fate should have a big say on their recruitment strategy.
Accordingly, it is advised to take the claim with a pinch of salt.
