Manchester United certainly need more quality in the middle of the park, especially considering the number of departures on the cards.
Christian Eriksen has already departed, and in the biggest news of them all, Bruno Fernandes could also leave in the summer, with Al-Hilal in talks with the player.
Kobbie Mainoo is yet to agree a new deal, and there is no guarantee INEOS will keep him onboard, especially amid his difficulties in adjusting to Ruben Amorim’s methods.
The head coach is on the lookout for an aggressive presence in midfield and they could have stumbled across the perfect fit if CaughtOffside are to be believed.
Quinten Timber interest
The report has claimed that the Red Devils are interested in Feyenoord’s highly-rated midfielder Quinten Timber. He was also a target when Erik ten Hag was the manager.
They have been joined by arch-rivals Liverpool, coached by his former mentor Arne Slot, and Arsenal, who also employ his twin brother Jurrien. This shows how difficult the race will be.
The 23-year-old started 24 games in all competitions last season, netting six times while registering a solitary assist.
He subsequently picked up knee ligament injury in February which forced him to go under the knife and as a result, missed the rest of the campaign.
The Dutchman’s aggressive style and versatility would be a great fit for Amorim while Feyenoord are open to a sale for €25 million with the midfielder having only one-year left on his current deal.
United could even try and get his price down, but in either case, the Netherlands international is a much cheaper option than Ederson.
“Feyenoord would be willing to listen to offers in the region of €25–30 million should Timber decline to sign a new deal.
Affordable price but injury recovery key
“That valuation has not deterred a host of admirers, with Premier League clubs such as Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and Manchester United all keeping tabs on the situation. Interest has also emerged from top-flight clubs in Italy, Germany, and Spain.
“Timber sustained damage to his external lateral ligaments in February 2025, an injury that required surgery and sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
“While his recovery process is underway, the severity of the setback could influence how potential suitors approach negotiations. Interested clubs are expected to closely monitor his rehabilitation progress before committing to a formal bid.”
It will likely boil down to the final budget and how well Quinten Timber recovers from injury.
It is likely United will try and secure a cost-effective signing with The Peoples Person even relaying a loan approach on the cards for the midfielder of the club’s choice.
