Manchester United are keen on signing Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth, as per reports.

United’s lacklustre and wasteful forwards undid the good work of Bruno Fernandes in the Manchester derby.

The United skipper produced a scintillating performance on Sunday afternoon, creating three chances against Manchester City, but his teammates lacked a killer instinct to punish the visitors, ultimately taking just a point from the goalless encounter.

Under Ruben Amorim, the likes of Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee, and Alejandro Garnacho have all seemed low on confidence, and at times clueless, in the penalty box, highlighting the need for a significant signing in attack.

A report in Spain suggests the Red Devils have stepped up their efforts to sign a prolific Premier League forward.

According to Fichajes, United are determined to sign Semenyo this summer.

The Bournemouth man has emerged as a jack of all trades under Andoni Iraola, having impressed in midfield and on both flanks. He has also featured as a centre-forward this term.

Known for his decision-making and work-rate, Semenyo has been directly involved in 15 goals in all competitions this season. His tricky two-footed ability, akin to Ousmane Dembele, makes him a nightmare to defend against.

It is claimed that United are “willing to pay €50 million” (£42.87m) to secure his services from the Cherries.

Last month, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are prepared to spend €40m on the 25-year-old.

Now, the report from the Spanish outlet suggests the Mancunians have increased their offer, underlining just how highly they rate the Bournemouth man.

However, United are not the only English outfit chasing Semenyo. It is understood Tottenham Hotspur also want to sign the promising attacker and are ready to spend big to win the race.
