Manchester United want to get their hands on another wingback in the summer but like in January, it might yet again be a left-sided one.

Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu arrived from Lecce and while he has looked raw at times, he understands what Ruben Amorim wants from him in that position unlike Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui on the opposite flank.

The Dane is versatile and can play on the right as well and the Red Devils could opt to recruit another left-sided wingback with Trivela claiming Botafogo’s Cuiabano is on their radar.

The Brazilian excels in the attacking part of his game and has two goals and three assists already this season, and his performances have not gone unnoticed.

Cuiabano on United’s radar

Apart from the 20-time English league champions, Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth are also circling along with clubs from Turkey and France.

United have even conducted an “advanced” survey, trying to find out details of his personal life to figure out whether he can adapt to life in England.

Botafogo rejected an €8 million offer from Brighton recently, with the Brazilian outfit holding out for a minimum€10 million, rising to €15 million.

“According to Trivela’s investigation, Manchester United, Tottenham and Bournemouth recently investigated Cuiabano’s situation at Botafogo.

“The three clubs have contacted the 22-year-old left-back’s staff and Botafogo itself, but have yet to make any offers. In addition to the Premier League teams, clubs from Turkey and France have also recently sought information about Cuiabano.

“United, Tottenham and Bournemouth carried out a more “advanced” survey, seeking information about salary values and even personal and family issues of Cuiabano, in order to assess how the player could adapt to English football and the country itself.

€10 million offer could get Cuiabano deal done

“In recent months, a representative from Cuiabano has been in Europe to meet with clubs and prospect potential interested parties for the left-back. There were two trips to Europe and, in addition to England, the member of Cuiabano’s staff also visited other countries.

“Botafogo will only negotiate Cuiabano for at least 10 million euros (R$63 million), but there is an expectation that this value could reach almost 15 million euros (R$96.9 million).”

Whether the Old Trafford side spend so much on the defence when there are obvious gaps in attack, in midfield and even in goal to be filled remains to be seen.

Diego Leon is set to arrive in the summer and it is likely Ruben Amorim will want to see what the Paraguayan is made up of before needing another left wingback.

But the report shows how much value INEOS is putting on the South American market, a breath of fresh air after ignoring it for so long under the Glazers.
