According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City are interested in signing Destiny Udogie from Tottenham Hotspur, as they contemplate options to rebuild their fullback department.
The Premier League champions aren’t expected to complete that particular transfer easily, with Udogie bound to his current club for five more years and considered a key player for the North London outfit. Nonetheless, City boss Pep Guardiola is believed to be an admirer of the 22-year-old left-back and wants him at the Etihad very much.
A modern, attack-minded fullback, Udogie has made 29 appearances in all competitions for Spurs this season, having overcome a hamstring problem which kept him out of action for the first month of the calendar year. He has broken into the Italian national side and boasts 11 caps for the Azzurri, most of them in the UEFA Nations League.
City will going for a new left-back no matter what. If Udogie proves too hard or too expensive to sign, they’ll likely move on to Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso.
