Manchester United target Jarrad Branthwaite is considering his future at Everton this summer after missing out on the senior England squad once again.
The 22 year old was subject to numerous bids from United last summer as the Red Devils had a £43 million bid for the player rejected in July with Everton viewing the player’s value closer to £70 million.
United finally walked away from a deal and sealed the signings of Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt for the centre back role.
Nonetheless, with United hiring Ruben Amorim, who plays a 3-4-3 which requires three starting centre backs, the Red Devils are expected to be in the market again this summer for central defenders.
What’s more, with Lisandro Martinez’s serious injury and Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans most likely leaving the club in the summer, there is space for at least one more defensive signing.
United are reportedly still very much interested in the English defender and are willing to pay what the Toffees’ demand for the sought-after young defender.
Sky Sports report that “Jarrad Branthwaite is expected to further consider his Everton future after being left out of Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad.”
“Everton are braced for more interest in Branthwaite from bigger clubs this summer, after they rejected multiple bids from Manchester United last year.”
The Englishman has made one appearance for the English national team last year against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nonetheless, he was finally left out of the 26 man squad that got to the final of Euro 2024.
As the summer market approaches, “whether playing for a club competing towards the top of the Premier League would increase his England chances is now expected to come into the centre-back’s thinking.”
Branthwaite has two years left on his current deal with an option to extend for a third and has been open to extending his deal in the past.
Nonetheless, no formal negotiations have taken place and it is clear that Everton would struggle to compete financially with the numerous top clubs like United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid that have been linked with the 22 year old.
