Report confirms Manchester United interest in £60m transfer

Manchester United have struggled to find the back of the net under Ruben Amorim with the Red Devils managing to net only twice in the last four Premier League games.

Rasmus Hojlund’s goal drought has now crossed 15 games while the Portuguese tactician’s talisman Amad has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Joshua Zirkzee impressed in the loss against Tottenham Hotspur but the summer signing is no striker while Alejandro Garnacho continues to misfire in front of goal.

If only INEOS had strengthened up front in January but instead they moved three forwards out on loan with two of them — Antony and Marcus Rashford currently shining for their loan clubs.

INEOS prefer Osimhen over Gyokeres

Amorim would prefer INEOS to bring in his former Sporting CP protege Viktor Gyokeres to Old Trafford come the summer but Givemesport have suggested that the co-owners prefer Victor Osimhen over the Swede.

Which is why the United head coach is not too perturbed by reports that Chelsea are eyeing a move for the Sporting striker in the summer.

The Nigerian has netted 20 goals and registered five assists in 25 games for loan outfit Galatasaray and even though the Turkish giants would like to keep hold of the 26-year-old, United remain confident that they can win the race for Osimhen.

The report states that the 20-time English league champions are prepared to pay his release clause but would prefer that the Nigeria international reduces his wage demands.

“Manchester United have identified Galatasaray loanee Victor Osimhen as their leading target ahead of the summer transfer window and Old Trafford recruitment chiefs are not allowing their focus to stray despite Chelsea showing interest in luring alternative target Viktor Gyokeres away from Sporting, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Osimhen needs to reduce his wage demands

“Manchester United chief Amorim and influential figures behind the scenes have identified Osimhen as their primary summer target as they go in search of bringing in a proven goalscorer, according to GMS sources, but they will have to persuade him to be flexible with his personal demands due to needing to fit him into their salary structure.

“GMS sources have been informed that Manchester United are confident that a deal for Osimhen will become feasible if he is prepared to lower his salary expectations, while there is an awareness that he should be attainable if they are willing to fork out in the region of £63million when he returns to Napoli at the end of the season.”

INEOS are focussed on reducing United’s bloated wage bill as they seek to remain within the PSR threshold which is why they will ask the Napoli striker to reduce his demands.

The report further states that should United encounter problems with the Osimhen deal, they will look at Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap as an alternative instead of the pricey Gyokeres.
