Manchester United are grappling with PSR concerns which is why club are looking at moving on an academy graduate this January as their sale would constitute pure profit.

And Marcus Rashford seemed the obvious choice since he has already gone public about his desire to try a new adventure. Since that infamous interview dropped, Ruben Amorim has not afforded him a single minute of game-time.

The Mancunian has already seen a move to AC Milan slip away while Borussia Dortmund have also been priced out of a move. Juventus remain a potential option but the Englishman’s heart remains set on a move to Barcelona.

However, the Catalan giants are facing their own financial problems and so far, have not managed to make space for the England international’s arrival with both Eric Garcia and Ansu Fati looking unlikely to depart Camp Nou this month.

Barca have been unable to make space for Rashford

Interestingly, SPORT have claimed that even if either were to leave, the United No 10’s wage demands would have made it nearly impossible for a deal to materialise.

The 27-year-old currently earns a mammoth £15,600,000 gross per year (via capology), which means he’s owed £7,800,000 for the remaining six months.

However, since it is Rashford who is agitating for a move away, United have made it clear to his camp that they will not pay a single dime and the La Liga side will have to assume his full wages.

In order to complete his dream switch, the England international is reportedly open to lowering his wage demands but Barca can only afford to pay £2,500,000, which means there remains a huge gap.

“Manchester United are reportedly giving the green light to Marcus Rashford leaving on loan, but have warned the player’s entourage that they want to save his entire salary between now and the end of the season.

Wage disparity

“Either Barça or the club that wants him will pay the full fee or the player will have to lower his salary significantly for the operation to go through. Negotiations are underway, but Barça must reach a salary limit with some exit if they finally want to sign the attacker.”

Besiktas, currently coached by ex-United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, were open to a deal as well but it looks like this saga will stretch till deadline day, which might leave Rashford with no other alternative choice.

His camp has already denied reports of a falling-out between the player and Amorim but the head coach is unlikely to play him much should he end up remaining at Old Trafford.

Not the best look for INEOS, who want him to regain form so that they can maximise his market value and sell him for a higher fee in the summer.
