Manchester City have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Tijjani Reijnders, making multiple inquiries as they look to bolster their midfield options this summer. The reigning Premier League champions are keen to strengthen their squad and have identified the AC Milan star as a prime target, according to a report by TEAMtalk.

The Rise of Tijjani Reijnders: From Eredivisie to Serie A Stardom

Tijjani Reijnders has been a revelation since his move to AC Milan from AZ Alkmaar in July 2023. The Dutch international arrived at San Siro with plenty of promise, and he has more than lived up to expectations. Showcasing his versatility and technical brilliance, Reijnders has established himself as one of the top midfielders in Serie A.

Despite AC Milan’s turbulent campaign, the 26-year-old has thrived, delivering 17 goal contributions (13 goals and 4 assists) in 43 appearances across all competitions this season. His impressive form has not gone unnoticed, attracting interest from several European heavyweights, with Manchester City leading the charge for his signature.

Why Reijnders is on City’s Radar

Pep Guardiola’s side is in the midst of a midfield evolution, with uncertainty surrounding the futures of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and Mateo Kovacic. Ilkay Gundogan’s departure last summer and Kalvin Phillips’ expected exit further highlight City’s need for reinforcements. Reijnders’ ability to dictate play, break opposition lines, and contribute in attack makes him a perfect fit for Guardiola’s system.

Can City Lure Reijnders Away from Milan?

Though Reijnders recently signed a new contract with AC Milan, Manchester City are unlikely to be deterred. The Premier League giants have the financial muscle and competitive allure to tempt the Dutchman to the Etihad. With City already making multiple inquiries, the coming weeks will be crucial in determining whether Reijnders will swap Serie A for the English top flight.
