The off-season is in full swing for every team not named the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, and the Los Angeles Rams are planning to make a big move.
Wide receiver Cooper Kupp has announced on social media that the Rams are seeking to trade him. The 31-year-old spent eight seasons with Los Angeles, being drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Eastern Washington.
I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.

“I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships,” Kupp wrote. “I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.
“Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember.
“I have taken so much pride in playing alongside my teammates for the LA community, so thank you for embracing my family and making this such a special place for us.”
Kupp finished 2024 with 67 receptions on 100 targets, totaling 710 yards and six touchdowns over 12 games. He missed five games this season, including resting in the Rams’ regular season finale against the Seattle Seahawks.
Kupp had a career year in 2021, achieving the NFL’s receiving triple crown; that year, Kupp led the league in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947), and TDs (16). At season’s end, Kupp was named the AP Offensive Player of the Year.
Los Angeles went on to win Super Bowl LVI, and Kupp was named Super Bowl MVP. In the championship game, Kupp totaled eight receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns, becoming the eighth receiver to win Super Bowl MVP honors.
Over the last three seasons, however, Kupp has missed some time with injuries. Kupp has been sidelined with ankle problems in both 2022 and 2024, undergoing season-ending surgery in the former season. Kupp also missed the beginning of 2023 with a hamstring issue before returning to the lineup later that year.
In the time since his triple crown campaign, Kupp has recorded 201 receptions for 2,259 yards and 17 touchdowns over 33 games. He will enter his age-32 season with a new organization, ending his time with the Rams in third place in career receptions (634), fourth in receiving yards (7,776), third in TDs (57).
With Kupp leaving Los Angeles, it is likely that Seattle will not face him as much (if at all) going forward. It will be fascinating to see where he ends up and how he does against the Seahawks in the future.
