The Punjab Kings (PBKS) express pacer Lockie Ferguson rattled the stumps of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal with a beauty on Saturday, April 5.
The Indian Premier League 2025 match between the Sanju Samson-led side and the Shreyas Iyer-led team is currently underway at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur.

Yashasvi Jaiswal shines with the bat
The 23-year-old opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal was struggling to get going heading into the match against the Punjab Kings. In the first three matches of the season for RR, he registered scores of 1, 29, and 4.
His poor form directly affected the Rajasthan Royals as they were unable to get off to good starts in the match. However, Yashasvi finally returned to form in the match against the Punjab Kings.
The left-handed batter showcased a batting masterclass and was involved in a great 89-run stand with his skipper Sanju Samson. He played quite well against the PBKS and registered his first fifty of the season.
Jaiswal was eventually back in the hut in the 14th over after scoring 67 runs off 45 balls, with 3 fours and 5 sixes. On the second ball of the over, Lockie Ferguson bowled a beautiful slower ball to Jaiswal just outside off-stump.
The opening batsman went for a heave and missed the line of the delivery, leading to the ball smashing into the stumps and taking one stick for a ride.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was told to play cautiously
Speaking on ESPNcricinfo ahead of the PBKS vs RR clash, the former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar had advised Yashasvi to play cautiously in the initial half of his innings before launching an attack on the bowlers.
He also speculated that the poor performances of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first few matches might have been because his mind was consumed with changing his domestic team. Sanjay Bangar elaborated:
“Yeah, that is certainly a discussion point with him. Like, if he’s getting out a number of times inside the powerplay, inside, maybe just before playing 7-8 deliveries, then that can certainly be a conversation as to, you know, can you just bat with your normal intent of playing cricketing shots in the first 10 balls.
“Because if you do that, you can certainly pierce the field and get your boundaries. But at the moment, it just seems that his head is muddled a little bit with whatever is happening, his move from Mumbai to Goa in the first-class setup. But it’s good that it’s past, it’s behind him now, so that he can clear off all the cobwebs and really put up a performance for RR by giving himself a little bit more time than what he’s given so far.”
