Liverpool are interested in signing Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window, according to AnfieldWatch. The report has claimed that the Premier League leaders are ready to make the former Manchester City striker their record signing.

Alvarez has been on the books of La Liga club Atletico when he joined from Premier League outfit Man City. The Argentina international striker has scored 22 goals and given five assists in 43 matches in all competitions for the Spanish club so far this season. The 25-year-old scored 36 goals and provided 17 assists in 103 matches for Man City.

Liverpool are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment with 70 points from 29 matches, 12 points above second-placed Arsenal. Meanwhile, Atletico currently find themselves third in the La Liga standings with 56 points from 27 games, four points behind leaders and defending champions Real Madrid, who have played 28 games.
