Rasmus Hojlund’s sophomore season in Manchester United colours has made it clear to the management that he is not the answer to the club’s goalscoring woes.

Which is why INEOS want him gone in the summer as they search for a quality replacement. Recent reports have suggested Liam Delap is one of the favourites owing to his cut-price fee following Ipswich Town’s relegation.

But Ruben Amorim would ideally prefer a reunion with his Sporting CP protege Viktor Gyokeres, who has been in sensational form this season.

The Swede has 52 goals and 12 assists this term and is eager to play in the Champions League moving forward, which is why he turned down the chance of a reunion in January.

Amorim wants Gyokeres and Osimhen

The Red Devils still retain confidence that Europa League success could change the ex-Coventry City man’s mind but the club have Victor Osimhen ready in case things go south.

His wage demands should not be a problem while the Nigerian has no Champions League demands. But both the Napoli ace and Gyokeres are attracting a lot of interest ahead of the summer window.

Chelsea were reportedly interested in Osimhen but recently moved aside while Saudi clubs continue to circle. As for the Sweden international, Arsenal are desperate to win the race for him.

Now, as per TBR Football, Liverpool have joined the race for both as they prepare for life in case they fail to land Alexander Isak from Newcastle.

Arne Slot is not convinced by Darwin Nunez and wants Liverpool to try and sign one of United’s top targets.

“Liverpool are looking at Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres as possible alternatives to Alexander Isak this summer, TBR Football can exclusively share.

Liverpool join the race

“Manchester United are interested in Osimhen this summer and the striker has continued to impress whilst on loan at Galatasaray this season. Sources close to Osimhen have previously confirmed to TBR that he wants to move to England this summer and now the list of clubs potentially available to the 26-year-old is increasing.

“In addition to Osimhen, Liverpool are also doing their due diligence on Gyokeres at Sporting CP, a striker with an extraordinary goalscoring record. Arsenal want to sign Gyokeres, a move that their new sporting director Andrea Berta has pushed to prominence.

An intermediary with knowledge of the striker situation told TBR Football: “Most of the big clubs in England want a top striker, it is not a shock that the same names are being looked at and talked about, everyone knows who they are.”

Hopefully, INEOS can get a deal for either of the two over the line. Delap, even though he enjoyed a fine season for the Tractor Boys, is also not ready to lead the line for United at such a young age. The club needs someone who is experienced and ruthless and Osimhen and Gyokeres both fit the bill.
