According to multiple sources, Liverpool have officially approached Newcastle to discuss a potential transfer of Alexander Isak. The Premier League champions are believed to be preparing a package worth up to £120million in total, which would see them break the transfer record in the English top flight yet again after they signed Florian Wirtz for a potential sum of £116million.
Liverpool are in need of a new striker, given the recent tragedy of Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez being likely to leave this summer. Newcastle have so far insisted Isak was not for sale, but Liverpool’s proposal could make them consider whether it is better to take such an amount and sign a replacement.
The Magpies have recently had a bid of over €80million for Hugo Ekitike rejected by Eintracht Frankfurt, and if they stand firm on not selling Isak, Liverpool are expected to make their move for the Frenchman.
