LIV Golf is set to return to action this week for the sixth tournament of the 2025 schedule, which is billed to take place in Mexico City.

The LIV Golf Mexico City Tournament will take place from April 25–27 at the prestigious Club de Golf Chapultepec. This will be LIV Golf’s first visit to Mexico City and its third visit to the country, following events at Mayakoba in 2023 and 2024.

Stage Set For Mexico City Tournament

Club de Golf Chapultepec has previously hosted World Golf Championships events between 2017-2020. The course is a challenging yet exciting venue for golfers, and LIV Golf players are eager to take on the test. The field consists of 54 players, including 13 teams of four players each and two wild cards, competing in a 54-hole stroke play format.

The tournament boasts a star-studded field, with Torque GC captain Joaquin Niemann of Chile leading the season-long individual points race, and Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs GC leading the team standings. Local favorites Carlos Ortiz (Torque GC) and Abraham Ancer (Fireballs GC) are ranked inside the top 13 in the season-long points race and will look to impress their home crowd. Reigning team champions Ripper GC enter the tournament on the back of winning the LIV Golf Miami event—their first title of 2025.

The tournament will feature a shotgun start at 1:05 p.m. local time on Friday and 12:05 p.m. local time on Saturday and Sunday.

Players and Fans Looking Forward to Event

Fans and players are already anticipating the Mexico City Tournament. Five LIV players finished in the top 15 at the recently concluded Masters and will be eager to make their mark again.

“I really enjoy Mexico City,” HyFlyers GC Captain and World Golf Hall of Famer, Phil Mickelson said. “Some great things there. Great restaurants. Nice food. Great people, and the golf course is spectacular.”

The 54-year-old has recorded remarkable success at the host course, winning the World Golf Championships event on the course in 2018.

The Club de Golf Chapultepec was completed by Alex Smith after his brother and initial designer Willie Smith died before he could finish the job. The golf course is located 7,800 feet-about 1.36 miles above sea level, making it the highest elevated city to host a LIV Golf event.

“The biggest challenge is the altitude and getting the distance control down. Once you have that, you can really appreciate how beautiful the golf course is and the area around it,” Mickelson added..

“It’s an amazing city and a proper golf course,” said Patrick Reed who won LIV’s most recent event in Mexico City in 2020.
