Lionel Messi was the biggest absentee for the Argentina national team during the recent double round of CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers. Due to an injury, the captain was ruled out just hours before his scheduled flight to Buenos Aires and remained in Miami to focus on his recovery.

Messi had to watch from a distance as Argentina secured two crucial victories: a hard-fought 1-0 win against Uruguay and a dominant 4-1 triumph over Brazil at the Estadio Monumental. However, despite his physical absence, Messi made sure to stay connected with his teammates and fans through social media.

Following Argentina’s emphatic win over Brazil, Messi took to social media to celebrate the team’s success and express his unwavering support. The legendary No. 10 shared his emotions with a heartfelt message:

“Inside, outside, wherever—it’s always with this national team. Always speaking through soccer. Congratulations on the great game you played last night and also on the victory against Uruguay.”

The post quickly gained traction, with thousands of fans engaging in the comments and showing appreciation for their captain’s dedication, even from afar.

Watching from Miami

Even though he couldn’t be on the field, Messi remained engaged throughout the matches. After the win over Brazil, he posted a story on Instagram showing himself watching the game from bed, accompanied by a series of clapping emojis.

Despite his frustration at not being able to contribute on the pitch, the Argentine forward continued his recovery process with individual training sessions at Inter Miami. His priority remains returning to full fitness as soon as possible.

Messi’s possible return in June

With the next international break scheduled for June, speculation has already begun regarding Messi’s availability for Argentina’s upcoming fixtures. The timing of these matches is particularly delicate, as they will take place just days before the FIFA Club World Cup, a tournament Messi’s Inter Miami is set to compete in.

The Argentine coaching staff will closely monitor his condition in the coming months before making a final decision on whether he will join the national team. For now, fans remain hopeful that their captain will soon return to lead La Albiceleste on the field once again.

Messi’s commitment never in doubt

Even when sidelined, Lionel Messi’s passion and commitment to the Argentina national team remain as strong as ever. His message of encouragement and virtual presence during the matches reinforced his role as the team’s leader. While Argentina proved their strength in his absence, the world eagerly awaits Messi’s return to the pitch—where he belongs.
