Streaking featherweight contender, Movsar Evloev has issued a stark reminder to newly-minted champion, Alexander Volkanovski of his pre-fight promise off the back of tonight’s coronation at UFC 314, after the Aussie vowed to fight him next if he won the belt for a second time.
Headlining tonight’s return to Miami, former champion, Volkanovski scooped the featherweight strap for the second time in his illustrious Octagon tenure.

And snapping a two-fight losing run of consecutive knockout finishes in the process, New South Wales technician, Volkanvoski fought through some massive adversity to reclaim the throne.
Tasked with halting the run of the streaking Brazilian, Diego Lopes, Volkanovski scored on the feet in sharp exchanges, before he was dropped in the final seconds of the second round.

And riding out a unanimous decision victory in the pair’s back-and-forth barnburner, Alexander Volkanovski claimed many within the community had counted him out — wrongly.

“It’s good to be back,” Alexander Volkanovski told Joe Rogan after his win. I love it so much. Oh, man. I was saying all week, even to the camera before I walked out, I said, you know, I promised my girls I’ll bring the belt back to them. But then I was thinking, look, it doesn’t matter about bringing the belt back. I think the message was, man, a lot of people counted me out, right? Coming off two knockout losses, the 35-year-old curse, 36 years old, big break and come back, come back and beat a gun like Diego Lopes who come and bring it.”
However, the Oceania favorite was immediately brought back down to earth by the surging, Evloev — who reminded him he was promised the first crack at featherweight spoils following the culmination of UFC 314.
“Congratulations on an excellent performance, you’re a true champion! Movsar Evloev tweeted following the UFC 314 main event decider. “Now let’s see what your word is worth! @alexvolkanovski #UFC314.”
