Leicester handed a debut to 15-year-old winger Jeremy Monga in the closing stages of their latest defeat – as he became the second-youngest player to feature in the Premier League.

Monga was born in July 2009 and at 15 years and 271 days old is only behind Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri, who debuted at 15 years 181 days in September 2022.

Nwaneri has kicked on this season and Foxes boss Ruud van Nistelrooy saw enough in a bright cameo to suggest Monga could have a future at the top.

The five youngest players are… Ethan Nwaneri (Arsenal) – 15 years, 181 daysJeremy Monga (Leicester) – 15 years, 271 daysMatthew Briggs (Fulham) – 16 years, 68 daysIsaiah Brown (West Brom) – 16 years, 117 daysAaron Lennon (Leeds) – 16 years, 129 days

“You could see glimpses of his great qualities. He’s a great winger and has speed,” Van Nistelrooy said.

“He’s a fantastic talent, a great boy. He deserved these minutes and hopefully, more to come.”

Monga will be able to sign his first professional contract when he turns 17 in 2026 and had previously made three appearances in the Football League Trophy.

He was an unused substitute in the Foxes’ 2-1 FA Cup fourth round defeat by Manchester United in February.
