Match preview for Leicester City v Liverpool

Liverpool could clinch the Premier League title on Sunday with victory at Leicester City, and a little bit of help from elsewhere.

The Reds lead Arsenal by 13 points with six games remaining and will be crowned champions if the Gunners lose to Ipswich Town and they claim victory at the King Power Stadium.

Unfortunately for Liverpool, the first part of that equation appears unlikely. Still, regardless of Arsenal’s fortunes, Liverpool need just two more wins to make sure of the title that has long since seemed destined for Anfield.

And this game is still likely to be consequential in terms of another fight that has been all but over for a while, with that being Leicester’s feeble battle against relegation.

The Foxes have endured a miserable return to the top flight and will be relegated back to the Championship if they fail to beat Liverpool.

Victory for Leicester would be an almighty shock, and all the numbers from their horrendous campaign point to Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk celebrating his new contract in style.

Team news for Leicester City v Liverpool

Leicester defender Wout Faes and teenager Jeremy Monga are both set to return from the minor issues that kept them out of last weekend’s draw with Brighton and Hove Albion.

Liverpool are poised to welcome Trent Alexander-Arnold back from an ankle injury, while forward Darwin Nunez should return following an illness.

Expected line-ups for Leicester City v Liverpool

Leicester City: Hermansen; Pereira, Okoli, Coady, Justin; Ndidi, Soumare; McAteer, El Khannouss, Mavididi; Vardy

Liverpool: Alisson; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Gakpo

The stats

Leicester have gone eight successive home league games without scoring and would set a new Premier League record if they draw another blank.Liverpool could become just the sixth Premier League side to win the title with five games to spare.Mohamed Salah has been involved in 45 Premier League goals this season (27 goals, 18 assists), a record for a 38-game campaign.

How to watch Leicester City v Liverpool

The game will be broadcast on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League and Ultra. It will also be available on Sky Go and Now TV.

Prediction

Liverpool can see the finish line irrespective of what happens at Portman Road. Leicester have all the hallmarks of a team desperate for the end. It will come on Sunday.

Prediction: Leicester 0-3 Liverpool
