LeBron James on Finals loss with Heat in 2011: I wanted to win so badly that I also carried fear of letting so many people down

LeBron James: I think the most important thing for me early in my career was the feeling of not wanting to let people down. I had to get over that—100%. When you don’t know how to handle that emotion, it’s like, “Oh [expletive], if I miss this shot, I’ve let a lot of people down. If I make a bad play, I’ve let so many people down.” It took me years—even in my second Finals appearance, that first year with the Heat. I wanted to win so badly that I also carried the fear of letting so many people down. We came here, put this thing together, and if it didn’t happen, I felt like I was letting so many people down. The hours I put into my craft, the commitment—none of that was top of mind. What I thought was: “If I go out and mess up, I let them down.” Instead of just going out there and being like, “Who cares?”Source: YouTube
