The New York Knicks would have been on Kevin Durant’s list of preferred trade destinations, but they have communicated they will not be pursuing a deal for him this offseason. The Knicks would have had to either trade Karl-Anthony Towns, or some combination of OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, Mitchell Robinson and Mikal Bridges to the Suns in exchange for Durant.
Durant was pursued by the Knicks during free agency in 2019 and again at the 2024 trade deadline. Durant’s agent, Rich Kleiman, is a lifelong Knicks’ fan.
Durant’s wish list now comprises the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets and Miami Heat. However, the Suns are not promising to send Durant to any of those teams and are motivated to acquire the best package possible for him.
