The Knicks are planning to sign veteran P.J. Tucker to a 10-day contract, SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley confirms.
The move will give New York an enforcer and frontcourt depth to a group that has had health concerns this season. Begley also reports that the Knicks view Tucker, a 14-year veteran and NBA champion with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021, as an integral addition to their locker room.
Tucker reportedly had discussions with multiple teams over the last week as he remained a free agent.
Begley notes that, despite a need for a center, Knicks people who targeted Tucker believe the position can be covered between Karl-Anthony Towns, Mitchell Robinson and Precious Achiuwa.
The 39-year-old last played during the 2023-24 season, splitting time between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Clippers. In 31 games (10 starts), Tucker averaged 1.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in 15.7 minutes per game.
During his 14 years in the league, Tucker has played for seven different teams and will soon add the Knicks to his resume.
