India’s veteran cricketer Virat Kohli was finally in action for the first time during the ODI series against England. Kohli played in the second ODI at Cuttack after missing out on the first match due to injury.

However, his chats with former England captain Kevin Pietersen are something that has caught the eyeballs of the viewers. While Kohli is part of India’s squad, Pietersen is working with the host broadcaster for his duties as a commentator. Both of them were seen sharing a laugh with each other during the first ODI.

They were again seen having an intense chat with each other during the second ODI at Cuttack. The conversations have led to various speculations with the former India opener Aakash Chopra predicting that Kohli might be asking Pietersen about the real estate prices in London.

Kevin Pietersen reveals his conversation with Virat Kohli

During his commentary stint with Star Sports, Aakash Chopra predicted whether both Virat Kohli and Kevin Pietersen might be discussing something about real estate in London since Kohli lives there now.

“Well, he (Virat Kohli) lives abroad most of the time now, so he could well be asking him (Kevin Pietersen) about real estate in London and some good localities there,” Chopra said on air.

When Pietersen was asked about the conversation, he asked the viewers not to assume things. In between, former India batter Suresh Raina suspected the conversation might be around playing golf. Pietersen was quick to reply to this and hinted at a conversation similar to this topic.

“Never ever assume things. I can use an analogy about assumptions but won’t here,” Pietersen said.

“You’re not far wrong there, you know,” Pietersen told Raina about the conversation on playing golf. “I have told him (Kohli), you’ve got to start playing golf. What a great game it is,” he added.

Virat Kohli’s London connection

Virat Kohli has been residing in London for quite some time now. He and his wife Anushka Sharma welcomed their second child – Akaay – in the same city and the whole family has been living there for the last year or so.

Kohli missed the Test series against England in early 2024 due to the birth of his second child. He returned to India to play in IPL 2024 and then took part in the T20 World Cup 2024, helping India to a title win.

He came to India to join the country’s celebrations but soon left for London to be with his family. Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma also spoke about the veteran cricketer’s plans to move permanently to London soon, especially after his retirement.

Not a great return for Virat Kohli in ODIs

Virat Kohli returned to the ODI format for the first time since August 2024 when he played the second match between India and England in Cuttack.

However, he was dismissed for just 5 off 8 balls by the legspinner Adil Rashid. Kohli had previously missed the first ODI due to a knee injury earlier. He will be aiming to return to form by scoring some runs in the final match of the series.
