The Las Vegas Raiders are in the process of building up their offensive firepower. Outside of stud tight end Brock Bowers, the only other truly reliable weapon on the team is wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. Some may not consider Meyers a premier player at the position, but he showed last season that he is more than capable of being an important weapon.
Last season was a career year for Meyers, as he totaled 87 catches for 1,027 yards, both career highs. He also added four touchdowns, but the prior season, Meyers grabbed a career-high eight touchdown receptions in his first season with the Raiders. His performance may have surprised many, but former Raiders running back Josh Jacobs is not one of them.
The now-Packers running back appeared on a YouTube Livestream and was asked who was the most underrated teammate he played with on the Raiders, and Jacobs quickly named Meyers, via Levi Dombro of Athlon Sports:
“The most underrated (player) I played with … (the one) that shocked me the most, especially on a day-to-day basis, was Jakobi Meyers,” said Jacobs. “Bro, he like that. He had no drops last year. You see him at practice, he do the grunt work, he don’t complain.”
Players see things that most fans don’t, especially when it comes to the work done behind the scenes when the cameras aren’t around. From the moment Meyers joined the Raiders, he has garnered nothing but praise from everyone within the organization, and Jacobs made it clear that he is someone who just does everything the right way.
The question now for the Raiders is what they will do in order to supplement Meyers and Bowers and help this offense take a big leap forward. The trade for quarterback Geno Smith is undoubtedly a step in the right direction, but this team still needs more weapons in order to become the unit it needs to be successful.
Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty has supporters within Raiders organization
One area the Raiders could use some help in is the backfield, as they were the worst rushing team in the league in 2024. Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty could potentially come right in and help solve that issue, and there are apparently some who feel he’d be the ideal pick for the Raiders.
A recent report noted that Jeanty has some ‘supporters’ within the Raiders organization, and it’s easy to see why. He had one of the greatest seasons for a running back in college history. He rushed for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns, averaging a ridiculous 186 yards per game. Adding him to Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bowers would give the Raiders offense the foundational pieces needed to thrive in 2025 and beyond.
