Just as the world thought the confusing Jon Jones saga was over, the former UFC heavyweight champion threw a spanner in the works with a return to the testing pool.
Jones and retirement have had a love/hate relationship of late. Confirming his departure from the sport 17 years after his debut, ‘Bones’ announced his comeback just two weeks later, putting the combat sports world on notice.
Despite a dominant win over Stipe Miocic, Jon Jones endured a status-damaging end to his career. The 37-year-old looked to have avoided then-interim champion Tom Aspinall’s call for a unification bout for months before later relinquishing his gold.
Fans believed Jones was evading a fight against the much younger, much faster natural heavyweight who was breezing past all of his opponents. However, while some may believe that to be the case, the Hall-of-Famer is gearing up to prove them wrong.
While supporters are in the dark about whether Jones will compete under the UFC banner again, his latest tease may be an indicator that something is in the works.
Posting on his social media, Jon Jones showed himself meeting up with two training partners, one being UFC alumni Maurice Greene.
The three entered a garage with a gym setup, seemingly hinting at a potential return for the former two-division UFC kingpin.

The significance of the video may be greater than you think, considering Jon Jones is notoriously rumored to not frequently train outside of fight camp.
If that is the case, Jones may have big news on the horizon. With Tom Aspinall yet to have a confirmed date or opponent for his first heavyweight title defense, many are beginning to theorize about what’s to come.
Though it’s all just speculation at this stage, the announced UFC event at the White House has piqued the interest of some notable names, including Jones.
