Jon Jones still doesn’t seem too keen on taking a fight against Tom Aspinall. The latest rumors suggest that the UFC heavyweight champion has made some wild demands to the company if they want him to unify the titles.
‘Bones’ is ready to bring an end to a sensational career in mixed martial arts, but leaving now will likely damage his reputation. Despite his age and status in the game, fans believe his legacy will take a hit if he does not step into the cage against his British counterpart.
Tom Aspinall has been a revelation in the heavyweight division, with many already suggesting that he could be the greatest the weight class has ever seen if he continues to spearhead through contenders. All that’s left between Aspinall and UFC gold is Jon Jones, but that fight may not happen.
While positive news has been surfacing regarding the potential fight, Jones quickly shut that down by making a big request. If he is to accept a fight against the rightful number-one contender, the 37-year-old has made a significant demand.
“The clock is ticking on that one,” Ariel Helwani said regarding the Jones vs. Aspinall fight happening in the summer. “I was told that Jon wants six months to prepare [once] the fight is locked in.”
“And what’s six months from now? September. You know, I’m sure money talks but it feels like the summer, if that is the goal, it’s starting to slip away a little bit.”
