Joaquín Niemann won at LIV Golf Singapore in style on Sunday after closing with a six-under-par 65 to win at 17 under par. The Chilean took the Sentosa Golf Club by storm to rise to the top of the Saudi-backed league and stay on track for a place at the U.S. Open.

“Today was one of those days, everything went my way. I hit it amazing,” the 26-year-old told reporters after the victory. “I was feeling a little bit more anxious when I woke up, knowing that I was playing obviously with Sebastian, my teammate, who I know he’s been playing great golf lately, with DJ playing the way he’s playing this week.”

Niemann Outduels Dustin Johnson for Commanding Victory

Niemann was tied for the lead with Dustin Johnson going into the final round. However, he birdied the first and made more gains to shoot a 65 on the Serapong Course. He eventually won by a commanding five-stroke margin. The Chilean walks away with the $4m grand prize after finishing second to Jon Rahm in the LIV Golf League last year.

“Yeah, I was a little bit nervous. You’re always nervous before a round about what’s going to happen,” he added. “It’s a game where everything could happen at any time, and starting the way I started playing, it really kind of freed me up a little bit for the rest of the round, starting with a birdie on the first hole, and then being able to birdie the third and the fourth.”

“Outstanding” Niemann Edges Closer To U.S. Open Spot

Joaquín Niemann has now won an impressive six times in the last 16 months with LIV. His title win in Singapore comes after he won in Mexico and Saudi Arabia last year. He also won the Australian Open in 2023 and the Saudi International title in 2024.

The United States Golf Association (USGA) will this year award a berth in the season’s third Major to the top-ranked player from the breakaway league who is not otherwise exempt. The U.S. Open is the only 2025 Major for which Niemann is not yet already qualified. But the 26-year old Chilean is on course for a spot in the prestigious tournament after securing the LIV Singapore title.

“I have it on my mind,” he said, before revealing that he is keen to impress in the Majors. In 22 Major starts, he has a best finish of T16th, and he’s hoping to change that this year,” he stated. “I know that I’ve been playing great out here, and if I look back into my stats, I haven’t had a great result in Majors. It’s something that kind of bothers me all the time.”
