Chelsea attacker Joao Felix joined AC Milan on loan during the January transfer window.

According to Football Insider, the Italian outfit do not have an obligation to sign him permanently and the player could be set for a return to Chelsea at the end of the season.

However, the report adds that AC Milan would be “very much interested” in signing the player permanently if he can live up to the expectations. It remains to be seen whether he can convince the European giants to sanction a permanent move for him in the summer. It is evident that he does not have a future at Chelsea and he needs to leave the club permanently.

The attacker scored his first goal for the Italian outfit on his debut recently and he will look to build on his impressive start to life at the Italian club. Chelsea paid £42 million when they signed him from Atletico Madrid and they will look to recoup most of that for the player.

It remains to be seen where the Portuguese international ends up. He was regarded as one of the best young attacking talents in world football during his time at Benfica. However, his development has stalled in recent seasons and he has not been able to fulfil his potential so far. The 25-year-old is entering his peak years and he will want to hit top form. Regular football will be crucial to his improvement.

Felix is capable of operating anywhere in the attack and versatility could be a bonus for Milan.

It remains to be seen whether Milan are prepared to give him the exposure he needs in the remaining months of the campaign. Meanwhile, Chelsea will certainly hope that the player can impress Milan and convince them to get a permanent deal across the line.
