JJ Redick said that the Los Angeles Lakers roster needs to get into better shape heading into next season.

“I’ll start with the offseason and the work that’s required in an offseason to be in championship shape,” said Redick on Thursday. “And we have a ways to go as a roster. And certainly, there are individuals that were in phenomenal shape. There’s certainly other ones that could have been in better shape. That’s where my mind goes immediately is we have to get in championship shape.”

The Lakers were outscored 127-85 in the fourth quarter by the Timberwolves in their 4-1 series loss.

With LeBron James not expected to retire, the team’s number one focus is to add a center this offseason.

Rob Pelinka added that he plans to build around James, Luka Doncic, and Austin Reaves.

“I think those three guys have incredible promise playing together. And we will collectively do a better job to make sure they’re surrounded with the right pieces to have ultimate success,” said Pelinka.
