NEW YORK CITY — After trying to prevent a turnover and racing out to OG Anunoby late in the fourth quarter of Game 4 between the Celtics and the Knicks, Jayson Tatum collapsed to the floor on a non-contact play.

Tatum immediately withered in pain, motioned for Joe Mazzulla to call a timeout, and trainers rushed over to him.

Tatum was helped off the floor by two Celtics trainers, including close friend Nick Sang, trying to not put weight on his right leg. He left the floor in a wheelchair.

Prior to the injury, Tatum was in the midst of one of the best playoff games of his career — he had tallied 42 points on 16-28 shooting, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals.

After the 121-113 loss, the Celtics trail the Knicks 3-1 in the best-of-seven series. But, Tatum’s looming injury status now sits at the forefront.

After the game, Joe Mazzulla said that Tatum will get imaging, but that he hadn’t had the chance to chat with him after the game.

“It’s a lower body injury,” Mazzulla said.

We’ll keep you posted as updates become available.
