Jake Paul vs. Julio César Chávez Jr. Live Results Update

Jake Paul vs. Julio César Chávez Jr. Fight Recap

Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) once again defeated a former world champion who is well past their prime, winning a unanimous decision against Julio César Chávez Jr. (54-7-1, 34 KOs, 1 NC).

Scores were 99-91, 98-92, and 97-93. Aside from the last three rounds, Chávez did so little in the contest that Paul could have won this by simply jabbing all fight. The American has now won six fights in a row since losing to Tommy Fury in early 2023.

Chávez did very little in the first three rounds of this fight. The inaction allowed Paul to land his jab at will. Although the American threw the jab several times, he rarely followed it up with a power punch. That did not matter because Chávez hardly threw anything, allowing Paul to win rounds.

The former middleweight world champion showed some signs of life in round four, throwing swinging punches at his opponent. However, Paul stayed consistent with his jab and was now starting to set up his power punches. Throughout the bout Chávez complained of punches landed behind the head and low blows, but it was very clear that that was not happening.

Chávez finally put up a serious fight from round eight onwards. Many of these shots were hooks that seemed to affect Paul to some extent, who proceeded to clinch to avoid further damage. Paul swung back as well, but neither fighter was ever close to securing a stoppage.

The fight went about how many should have expected it to go. Chávez has only fought once since the beginning of 2022 and was fighting 40 lbs above the weight class he had his peak in. Little should have been expected of him and little did he produce against Paul.

Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez vs. Yuniel Dorticos Fight Recap

Gilberto Ramirez (48-1, 30 KOs) holds on to his world titles with a unanimous decision against Yuniel Dorticos (27-3, 25 KOs).

Scores were 117-110 and 115-112 (x2). With the victory, Ramirez remains the WBA and WBO cruiserweight world champion. He won the WBA title against Arsen Goulamirian in March last year. Ramirez then added the WBO belt with a win over Chris Billam-Smith later in 2024.

The opening round saw Ramirez move off of the back foot, content with Dorticos pursuing him around the ring. This continued into subsequent rounds, something that benefited the Cuban. Whenever Ramirez tried to press forward he found himself being pushed back by Dorticos’ power. The challenger consistently went to the body but received two early warnings for straying below the beltline.

As the fight went on both men increased their output. However, Dorticos started to show signs of fatigue from the middle rounds onwards. This obviously benefited Ramirez who started to land at a higher rate in what was now a grueling contest between the two. A point was deducted from Dorticos in round 10 after he landed consecutive low blows.

Ramirez had better success coming forward in the later rounds but was still on the back foot for the most part. Dorticos appeared to be aware that the fight was slipping away from him and did what he could to hurt his opponent. It was not enough in the end as Ramirez would go on retain his world titles.

In the fourth, Rodríguez was hit with a left hook to the head followed by a right uppercut. Curiel then immediately landed a right hook to the body to send his opponent down. Julian Rodriguez (24-1, 15 KOs) won via tenth round knockout against Avious Griffin (17-1, 16 KOs). The official time of stoppage for this 10-round welterweight fight was 2:55.
