“It’s just really sad”: Gary Neville says only one Man United star would get into Tottenham Hotspur’s XI – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has delivered a stinging critique of his former side, indicating that only Bruno Fernandes would get into the current Tottenham Hotspur team.

United suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Tottenham to slip down to 15th place in the Premier League table, with just 29 points to their name.

James Maddison scored the only goal of the match to hand United their 12th top-flight defeat.= of the campaign.

Even more alarming, only the league’s bottom two sides have endured more losses than United’s eight across their last 12 games.

Speaking during his post-match analysis for Sky Sports, Neville slammed the Red Devils’ recruitment over the past few years.

The former England international said, “If you take Tottenham’s best players – Porro, Udogie, Van de Ven, Romero, Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison, Kulusevski, Solanke, Son, Johnson, Tel – how many Manchester United players would get into that Tottenham team if everyone was fit?”

“I think Bruno Fernandes you would want to have in there. Maybe Amad but if you’ve got Kulusevski or Amad, to be honest, I’ll probably go Kulusevski.”

Neville added, “My point is, every single Tottenham player bar one if they were all available is better than every single Manchester United player.”

“That’s not being emotional, it’s not ranting, we’ve gone past that now. It’s just really sad that that’s where Manchester United are currently at.”

Fellow presented Jamie Redknapp agreed with Neville’s sentiment, insisting that United need a massive squad overhaul to get back on the right track.

“They need 7/8 players to change. We all thought that Ten Hag didn’t have a clue and I’m sure this manager probably thought that.”

“They need to bring in better players. That isn’t the nucleus of a squad that’s going to be competing. When you look at Arsenal City, Liverpool… They are miles ahead.”

“They’ve spent fortunes. But if your recruitment is wrong and you’re bringing in 30-year-old’s on four of five year contracts it’s never going to work. They have to change now. I looked at the subs today and I actually felt sorry for him. He didn’t have the personnel to get the result he wanted.”

United are back in action on Saturday when they go away to Goodison Park to face a resurgent Everton under David Moyes.
