Magomed Ankalaev ended Alex Pereira’s light heavyweight title reign on Saturday, defeating the Brazilian champion in the UFC 313 main event by unanimous decision. But not everyone agreed with the judges’ scorecards.
The debate rages on in comment sections and in social media replies. There’s no shortage of YouTube videos weighing in on who they thought won the fight.
Former two-time middleweight champion Israel Adesanya was one of those that scored the fight for “Poatan”. In a UFC 313 reaction video posted to his YouTube channel, Adesanya showed his immediate response to the decision.
After two rounds, Adesanya had the fight scored one round each. The third round he scored for Pereira.
“I think it’s ‘And still,’ Adesanya said before the official scorecards were read. “What a stupid game we play,” he said after the scorecards were announced.
“49-46, what was that? He dropped him. Yeah, won that round too. The holding. He didn’t really do much with the holding. What a stupid game we play. I f*cking love it. Stupid f*cking game,” Adesanya said.
“I had Alex winning,” Adesanya continued. “I’d have to watch it again and score the fight properly. The round two might have played a factor just because he dropped him but then holding against the fence I don’t really remember him getting any takedowns.”
UFC 313 took place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The light heavyweight title fight headlined the event.
