According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak would be open to joining Barcelona this summer, but he’d prefer to join Liverpool if the Premier League leaders join the race for his services.

Barcelona sporting director Deco is keeping tabs on the Sweden international, keen to strengthen the attacking section of the squad under Hansi Flick’s command. However, at this point, the Catalan giants cannot afford to meet Newcastle’s asking price, believed to be around €90 million, not unless significant income is secured through player sales.

As for Liverpool, they are expected to part ways with Darwin Nunez, which would open up a spot in the striker department of Arne Slot’s squad. The misfiring Uruguay international hasn’t been able to justify the large transfer fee spent on his signature in 2022. This is where the attacking threat posed by Isak, with 23 goals and five assists this season, would come in, quite apart from the ever-growing possibility of Mohamed Salah also leaving when his contract expires at the end of the season.
