Rasmus Hojlund’s time at Manchester United could be coming to a premature end, with reports from Italy suggesting that Serie A giants Inter Milan have joined the race to sign the young striker.

The Danish international arrived at Old Trafford in 2023 with high expectations, following a big-money move from Atalanta.

United paid €85 million for Hojlund less than two years ago, but the club is now prepared to listen to offers, hoping to recoup as much of that fee as possible.

According to Calciomercato.it, Inter Milan are considering a move for the forward and are ready to compete with Juventus and Napoli for his signature.

Despite his underwhelming spell in the Premier League, Hojlund remains highly regarded in Italy, where he previously impressed during his time with Atalanta.

Juventus, in particular, are monitoring his situation closely as they prepare for the potential departure of Dusan Vlahovic this summer.

Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has reportedly made preliminary enquiries regarding Hojlund’s availability, identifying him as a strong candidate to lead the line next term.

Napoli are also interested as they look to reinforce their attacking options following a disappointing domestic campaign.

However, it is Inter who appear to be the latest entrant in what could become a heated transfer battle between Serie A’s biggest clubs.

United are thought to value the striker at around €65 million, and while that figure represents a loss compared to what they initially paid, it may still prove too steep for some of his suitors.

Inter are keeping a close eye on the situation and may be tempted to act if they feel Hojlund could rediscover his best form back in familiar surroundings.

From United’s perspective, the potential sale of Hojlund could free up valuable funds to reinvest in a more experienced or stylistically compatible centre forward. With Amorim expected to favour a more fluid, interchangeable front line, the Dane’s profile may no longer be considered the right fit.

Hojlund’s contract runs until 2028, with the option of an additional year, meaning United are under no immediate pressure to sell. But given the player’s likely desire for regular first-team football and the club’s ongoing rebuild, a summer exit now looks increasingly likely.

While his Old Trafford career has failed to ignite, a return to Serie A could offer the 21year old a chance to reset and remind Europe of his considerable talent.
