Wimbledon Tennis 2025: Draws and Schedule for Monday, June 30th

There is still a little left until the start of the Masters, according to many, the biggest golf tournament, which attracts attention year after year. The winner of this competition from 2008, Trevor Immelman, reflected on the feats of several golfers who managed to defend the Masters title, focusing his eyes on Scottie Scheffler, who will seek the same success.

Such a company consists of Tiger Woods, Nick Faldo and Jack Nicklaus.

The South African golfer is somewhat surprised that only three golfers managed to defend the Masters title, emphasizing how demanding Augusta National is, with many obstacles. The competition in this competition is also fierce, and it is necessary to stay focused from the first day.

“Why is it so difficult? Winning on the PGA Tour is hard enough; winning major championships ratchets that up even more,” Immelman said, as quoted by CBS Sports.

“It is quite incredible that so few players have gone back-to-back. This is going to be the 89th Masters now.

It’s just such a demanding golf course mentally and physically. It’s on the knife’s edge on so many different shots where you have to be so extremely precise, particularly on approach, and have some things go your way. You need to be able to roll with the punches from the standpoint that, at some point, you are going to be out of position, and you’re going to have to fight your way through that adversity and stay in the tournament. It’s very difficult to do. When you have that caliber of player there, it makes it even tougher.”

Trevor Immelman talks about Scottie Scheffler

The 45-year-old golfer tried do defend his title in 2009, but failed to become part of the company of Woods, Faldo and Nicklaus. However, when he ended as a T20 that year, he caused positive reactions among the public.

Immelman had only words of praise for Scheffler, saying that he was the hardest golfer to beat in the last three years. Scheffler’s latest tournament brings optimism to Trevor, who believes that Scottie is a golfer who is back on track.

The South African golfer points out that after Tiger Woods, Scottie is the golfer who is the best strategist on golf courses, praising many components of his game.
