‘I’m staying retired’: Tyson Fury says no plans to make return to boxing

Tyson Fury has been the subject of rumors that he’ll “un-retire” and “return” to boxing, following his “retirement” after last December’s second loss to Oleksandr Usyk.

But Fury has taken to social media to insist he’s got no plans to box again.

“Been around the world and back again. Here we are, this is what retirement looks like for the ‘Gypsy King.’ Not too shabby,” Fury said while showing a view of the scenery in Monte Carlo.

“I’m in no rush at all to come back to boxing. Get me face punched in, for what? What will I return for? I ask that question. So here we are. I’m retired, and I’m staying retired.”

The 36-year-old Fury (34-2-1, 24 KO) does seem to understand that basically nobody believes he’s actually retired, in part because he’s not that old, in part because there’s a lot of money left to make, in part because it’s boxing, and in part because he’s “retired” before, repeatedly.

So all he can really do is keep saying he’s not going to box again, or, you know, box again, which most still seem to expect is an inevitability at some point, possibly for a huge money fight with Anthony Joshua.
