Yankees great Brett Gardner’s 14-year-old son, who died of asphyxia last week while on vacation in Costa Rica with his family, was honored in a heartbreaking TikTok post by his girlfriend as she mourned the sudden loss of her “best friend.”
Zoe Williams, Miller Gardner’s sweetheart, posted a compilation of their time together with the song “Scott Street” by Phoebe Bridgers playing in the background.
The pictures, videos and old TikTok drafts spanned years — the duo had a clear affinity for matching clothes, including sushi-themed snuggies and “I heart my girlfriend/boyfriend” t-shirts.
“I am so so crushed and I never imagine this could happen. I just wish I could’ve said goodbye or talked to you or even given you a hug for one last time. I love you more than anything and I’ll never be able to get over your loss,” Zoe wrote.
“I am so glad that I got to experience love with you even though we were too young to make it last. I’ll never trade the time we had. You made me feel so special and I’ll never forget that. I will forever remember you until I die.”
Miller suddenly died in his sleep, according to his parents. Several other family members also reportedly became severely ill while staying at the same upscale Costa Rican resort.
“We have so many questions and so few answers at this point, but we do know that he passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21st,” Gardner, 41, and his wife, Jessica, said in a statement announcing their young son’s death Sunday.
Costa Rican officials are currently working with the Gardners to repatriate the teen’s body back to the US.
The US State Department confirmed Miller’s death is under investigation, a spokesperson telling The Post they are closely monitoring local authorities’ efforts.
