Glasner: Third straight Palace win is ´great statement´

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner believes a third straight win is a “great statement” for his side, who beat Ipswich Town 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.

Palace struggled to create too many chances against a resolute Ipswich defence but eventually found the breakthrough via Ismaila Sarr’s clipped finish in the 82nd minute.

Palace have now won the second-most points in the league since the beginning of 2025 (19, Liverpool have 25), and Glasner was delighted his side could find a winner ahead of a three-week spell without a game before their FA Cup quarter-final against Fulham.

“It was an amazing goal from Ismaila Sarr and we took the win,” he said to Premier League Productions.

“We are really proud because it’s a third win in a row in the Premier League. It’s a tough thing for any team to do and these guys did it. It’s a great statement.

“We now have three weeks without a game and it is important for us to use this time in the best way to make sure we are ready for the crunch time.”

The Eagles were able to win despite the absence of Jean-Philippe Mateta, who sustained a serious head injury last weekend against Millwall, but Glasner emphasised the importance of the team, not individuals, in finding results.

He said: “I don’t think Mateta ever won a game alone. He has always needed his team-mates.

“That was the same today. He gets the credit for scoring the goals but all the others help as well.

“They work hard, create chances and he finishes. Keeping a clean sheet is also important. It is always a team effort.”

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna, meanwhile, praised his side for a battling performance despite their relegation fears being deepened by the result.

He told Premier League Productions: “It was a really hard-fought game.

“The margins are really fine and the level of the division is really high. We were really close to taking the points today but it’s frustrating for the club that we haven’t.

“We came here with a depleted squad and competed really, really well. We can still improve and I think we are improving.”

McKenna recognises the importance of taking some positives into next weekend’s vital match at home to Nottingham Forest, adding: “The only thing that will make us feel better is getting some points from Nottingham Forest.

“The group knows we are getting closer to winning points. We know that one result will change the feel of things.”
