India took on England in the second ODI at the Barabati Cricket Stadium in Cuttack on February 9. After winning the toss, England opted to bat first and made use of the of the batting friendly track to set a target of 305 runs. While chasing, India openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill looked in fine touch and piled up 48 runs in just 6.1 overs.
As the duo looked on song, a technical glitch halted the game. One of the floodlights at the Barabati Stadium malfunctioned and switched off. The umpires pressed the pause button as players waited for the issue to be fixed. But even after the delay, the problem was not solved and the players along with umpires decided to trudge back to the pavilion.

“It was a good performance in the first game. That’s what I loved about. The energy was very good despite not being on the field for a while. It was superb to watch after losing two wickets. Shreyas prides himself on that intent and attitude, and not to forget the contributions of Shubman and Axar as well. Black soil pitch, not sure. Maybe play on the slower side, that’s what I expect. Two changes, Jaiswal makes way for Virat. Kuldeep is rested, so Varun makes his debut,” said Rohit at the toss.
