Former WWE chairman, Vince McMahon, is no longer affiliated with the pro wrestling promotion that made him both rich and famous. But don’t expect the 79 year-old “savage” to spend his twilight years rotting away inside a Stamford retirement home.
McMahon is reportedly looking to buy his way back into the sports and entertainment business, recently making an offer to acquire Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), the combat sports organization partly owned by former UFC champ Conor McGregor.
That’s according to an update from Undisputed’s Justin Barrasso.
“He’s a great guy, his whole team is great, but the timing wasn’t right for us,” said BKFC founder and president, David Feldman. “He’s Vince McMahon. If I were him, I’d want creative control, too. He was awesome, very complimentary, and he was very serious to do business.”
Whether or not McMahon is a “great guy” may depend on who you ask.
There was a time in the not-too-distant past when the McMahon family had its eye on UFC, a deal that was eventually secured by Ari Emanuel and his gang of merry men. McMahon recently launched a private investment firm focusing on sports, media, and entertainment.
BKFC returns on June 21 with “Soto vs. Bonner” at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
