On Sunday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Low reported former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy was found dead Saturday night in Houston. He was 24.

Per Schefter and Low, the cause of death was not immediately known.

Former LSU stars mourned the loss of Lacy.

Former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels — who played with Lacy for two seasons in Baton Rouge — posted multiple clips of himself and the WR on his Instagram story.

“u always brought that energy (and) positivity no matter what .. a real one!” the Washington Commanders QB wrote in one clip. “Showed love from the first day. forever on your side. had (your) back no matter what!!”

Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase — who played for LSU from 2018-20 — paid his respects to Lacy on his X account.

LSU also released a statement.

“We’re saddened to learn of the tragic passing of former LSU Football student-athlete Kyren Lacy. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones, as well as his former teammates and coaches impacted by his passing,” the school said in the statement, per Schefter and Low.

Lacy had been accused of causing a car crash that killed a 78-year-old man on Dec. 17 and fleeing the scene without rendering aid or calling authorities. On Jan. 12, he turned himself in and was released on a $151K bail.

Per Scott Polacek of Bleacher Report, Lacy’s agent, Rocky Arceneaux, had said the wideout was “fully cooperating with authorities.”

WAFB-TV’s Jacques Doucet reported a grand jury was scheduled to begin hearing evidence in Lacy’s case starting Monday.

In 12 games in 2024, Lacy had career highs in receptions (58), receiving yards (866) and touchdown catches (nine). Per Schefter and Low, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. ranked him as high as his No. 6 WR prospect in December.
