Hansi Flick expects Ilkay Gundogan to stay with Barcelona this season, regardless of hypothesis linking the midfielder with a transfer away from Camp Nou.

The Germany midfielder, who arrived from Manchester Metropolis in 2023, has lower than 12 months remaining on his contract with the Blaugrana.

Spanish media reviews advised Gundogan could depart the membership following the arrival of Dani Olmo, with Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce rumoured to be concerned about buying his companies.

The 33-year-old missed Barca’s 2-1 victory over Valencia on Saturday, having suffered a head damage of their Joan Gamper Trophy defeat to Monaco earlier within the week.

However, Flick is hopeful his compatriot’s future will probably be at Barca.

“[He] damage his eyebrow on Monday and that’s why he stayed at house,” Flick instructed reporters following the Valencia win.

“I admire what sort of participant he’s and what he’s like as an individual. I’ve talked to him lots, but it surely’s one thing between me and him.

“We’ve got a great relationship. I do know him nicely. I’ve the sensation that he’ll keep.”
