América vs. LAFC is indeed the plan with which FIFA will try to replace Club León in the next Club World Cup, once the decision of the CAS regarding the participation or not of “La Fiera” (The Beast) in the international tournament is announced.

This was recognized by the president of the highest body of world soccer, after a press conference at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the city of Atlanta, one of the venues that will host the competition that will start on June 15.

“For the case of León, the case will be decided by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on May 5 or 6, so in a couple of weeks we will have the final and definitive decision, of course we will respect,” Infantino told the media.

“If the Court of Arbitration for Sport confirms the decision of the FIFA Appeals Committee, it is possibly to play a match, a playoff, between the team that lost the Champions final with León, which is the LAFC and the next team in the ranking, which is América”.

Club América denies knowledge of FIFA’s plan

It was just last Friday, also during a press conference, when the president of Club América, Santiago Baños declared that no information had reached the “Azulcrema” (Blue Cream) institution in this regard, denying at all times that they had knowledge of FIFA’s plan.

“I tell you the truth, we have not even received or have any information about it. Now you mention the issue of the ranking. A week ago there was still talk of the issue of the match between América and LAFC. The truth is that we have remained on the sidelines. From before the FIFA information happened, all the media put América as a candidate. We, the truth, what level in the burial we have,” he declared.
