The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 ended with Chelsea pulling off a stunning upset over an in-form Paris Saint-Germain, capping off the first edition of the expanded tournament. Following standout performances, one player from the competition’s Best XI has reportedly completed a €20 million move to the Premier League.

The U.S.-hosted tournament served as a global showcase for emerging talent, producing several surprises along the way as favorites were knocked out earlier than expected. Just a day after the final, FIFA announced its official Best XI from the competition.

The ideal lineup featured a strong Chelsea and PSG presence, with Marc Cucurella, Enzo Fernández, Pedro Neto, and Cole Palmer representing the Blues, while Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, and Vitinha stood out for the French side. Rounding out the squad were Fluminense stars Thiago Silva and Jhon Arias, Al Hilal’s Yassine Bounou, and Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Garcia.

Jhon Arias and a move to England

According to Fabrizio Romano, Jhon Arias is set to join Wolverhampton Wanderers ahead of the 2025–26 campaign. After a standout performance for Fluminense in the Club World Cup, the Colombian winger attracted interest from several European clubs, ultimately securing his first move to Europe.

With Wolves recently losing star forward Matheus Cunha to Manchester United, the club was actively seeking an attacking reinforcement. Arias, a regular for the Colombian national team and one of the top performers at the tournament, emerged as their ideal target. The English club is reportedly finalizing the deal for €20 million.

Arias was a key figure in Fluminense’s surprising run to the semifinals, providing creativity and energy throughout. According to Squawka, he created 18 chances for Fluminense—six more than any other player in the competition, ahead of figures like Palmer, Ruben Neves, and Nicollo Barella.

Per Romano, personal terms have already been agreed upon, with travel details still being finalized. With Wolves set to face Stoke City in their first preseason friendly on July 26, head coach Vítor Pereira hopes to have Arias available as the club prepares for the upcoming Premier League season.
