Argentina is set to make history as Buenos Aires hosts the first-ever Fedelatin Convention from June 12 to 15—a milestone event for the Latin American branch of the World Boxing Association (WBA). The gathering will feature a packed agenda of seminars, discussions, and fight nights, all aimed at strengthening the sport throughout the region.

This marks the second WBA regional convention, following the inaugural WBA Asia Convention held last year. Next up will be WBA Europe, scheduled for August in Madrid, Spain.

WBA President Gilberto Jesús Mendoza will be on hand in the Argentine capital, alongside Fedelatin Director Lautaro Moreno, as they look to expand the reach and impact of boxing across Latin America. The convention promises to serve as a catalyst for new initiatives and collaboration among boxing’s key stakeholders.

Buenos Aires has become a hotbed for WBA activity, having hosted three consecutive KO Drugs Festival events in recent years. This time around, the city will also stage two boxing cards on June 13 and 14 at the Casino Buenos Aires, showcasing a mix of up-and-coming prospects and seasoned contenders battling for various regional titles.

Beyond the action inside the ring, the convention will include a coaches’ seminar, a masterclass led by former pro Alberto Melián, and an officials’ clinic featuring some of the sport’s top judges and referees, sharing their insights and best practices.

There will also be open forums and discussion panels with promoters, offering them the chance to present proposals, raise concerns, and suggest updates to the Fedelatin rankings system. It’s an opportunity for all voices in the Latin American boxing scene to be heard—and for the region to keep pushing forward, one round at a time.
