Barcelona are pushing for a transfer of Francisco Trincao this summer, with Manchester United interested.

Trincao, currently at Sporting Lisbon, is attracting attention from England following an impressive season.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, his agent, Jorge Mendes, is reportedly exploring potential exit routes. There is keen interest from Man United, Man City and Bayern Munich.

Barcelona sold Trincao to Sporting last year for €7.5 million after a loan spell, but retained 50 per cent of the capital gain from any future transfer. With Premier League bids potentially on the horizon, the Catalan club see a major financial opportunity.

The 25 year old has flourished in Lisbon, with his resurgence catching the eye of United, and Amorim said to be keen on a reunion.

Trincao’s sale could generate crucial income for Barcelona, who have already secured €16.5 million this summer from previous deals.

The club is under pressure to balance its books and avoid selling first-team players, making this deal particularly important.

United remain in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer, despite having secured the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves as their first major addition.

The club is pushing ahead in their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo, with Brentford rejecting a reported £62.5 million offer. Talks are ongoing, and United are hopeful of reaching a breakthrough.

Trincao has emerged as a potential alternative—or even a complementary signing. While he wouldn’t come cheap, the Portugal international is well known to new United boss Ruben Amorim, who managed him at Sporting.

Should negotiations for Mbeumo hit a deadlock, Trincao could present a viable option. Given the club’s intent to bolster attacking depth, there is also a scenario in which both players arrive at Old Trafford this window.

Sporting, however, remain firm in their stance. They are reluctant to part with the Portuguese international and have prioritised a contract renewal instead, tabling a proposal they hope to finalise in July.

While Mendes continues to engage clubs and pitch Trincao’s availability, Sporting’s intentions appear focused on retention. Whether this is a negotiation tactic or genuine remains to be seen.

Barcelona, aware of the risks and rewards, have urged Mendes to push for a deal that benefits all parties. The relationship between both clubs remains strong, but there has been no significant progress.

Even if Trincao signs a new deal, Barcelona would still retain their clause—allowing future benefit. But their preference is clear: a sale now would offer immediate financial relief and room to manoeuvre in the transfer market.

For now, the outcome hinges on whether Sporting can be persuaded, and if United’s interest solidifies into concrete offers.
