It’s reasonable to claim that Milan‘s current season is their worst in recent memory. Sitting ninth in Serie A and already eliminated from European competition by Feyenoord, the Rossoneri find themselves in an unfamiliar crisis.

With heavyweights Inter, Napoli, Atalanta, and Juventus holding double-digit point advantages, Milan’s hopes of securing a Champions League spot have long faded. Instead, the club’s focus is now on avoiding a total collapse and fighting for a Europa League place.

Despite the turmoil, Milan fans continue to rally behind stars like Christian Pulisic, Rafael Leao, Joao Felix, and Santiago Gimenez. Their unwavering support is evident in the latest attendance figures, which reveal a surprising and impressive statistic: the Red and Blacks lead Serie A in average attendance, surpassing even their city rivals, Inter.

Milan surprisingly tops Serie A attendance charts

A recent report from Calcio e Finanza highlights the attendance figures for the 2024-25 Serie A season, showing that the league is maintaining a strong overall average of 30,619 spectators per match, with a stadium occupancy rate of 91.57%—an increase from last year’s 83%.

However, the most remarkable finding is that despite Milan’s struggles, their supporters remain the most dedicated in Italy. A total of 999,064 fans have attended the team’s 14 home matches so far, averaging an impressive 71,362 spectators per game. This places them ahead of Inter, who average 70,059 fans per match, and Roma, who complete the podium with just under 62,000 per home game.

Other clubs in the top five include Napoli and Lazio, with average home attendances just over 50,000 and 32,000, respectively. Notably, Genoa played one game behind closed doors against Juventus due to fan clashes before the city derby against Sampdoria in the Coppa Italia.

While Sergio Conceicao‘s side leads in raw attendance numbers, its stadium occupancy percentage places it sixth in the league. Cagliari currently holds the top spot, boasting an impressive 98% capacity filled, followed by Como at 97.33% and Juventus at 97%. Milan, at 94%, still maintains strong fan engagement despite the protests surrounding the club’s performances.

Remarkable display of loyalty

The fact that Milan tops the league in attendance despite their poor results and an atmosphere of frustration among supporters is nothing short of remarkable. Many supporters have voiced their dissatisfaction with the club’s direction, yet their love for the team remains unwavering. The unshakable trust in the future and the star power of players like Pulisic, Leao, Felix, and Gimenez are evident in their ongoing support from the Rossoneri faithful.
