Eala Surging, Raducanu Back in Top 50

A breakout performance in Miami has led to a top 100 debut for 19 year-old Alexandra Eala of the Philippines.

EALA TOP 100

A trip to the semifinals in Miami takes talented southpaw Eala up to No. 75 in Monday’s WTA rankings. That’s a rise of 65 spots for Eala, who had won just two WTA matches prior to her performance in Miami.

This new ranking should set her up to make the main draw at some of the bigger events on the clay and certainly at Roland-Garros so we’ll be seeing much more of the talented teen in the weeks to come.

Eala is now the first player from the Philippines to ever hold a Top 100 ranking.

RADUCANU TOP 50

A trip to the Miami quarterfinals brings Emma Raducanu up 12 spots and back to the Top 50 for the first time since August 2022.

The 22-year-old Brit earned a pair of Top 20 wins in Miami, one against Emma Navarro and the other against Amanda Anisimova as she won four consecutive matches for the first time since she won the U.S. Open title in 2021.

KESSLER CAREER HIGH

American McCartney Kessler won a pair of matches in Miami and thanks to that trip to the third round the 24-year-old jumps to a career-high ranking of No. 42. Former Florida Gator Kessler was ranked No.120 when she played Miami qualifying last year.

20-year-old American Ashlyn Krueger, who reached the round of 16 in Miami, also makes a career high at No. 34, up six spots from number 40. She defeated Leylah Fernandez and Elena Rybakina at Miami in another stellar performance.

Amanda Anisimova, who also reached the round of 16 before falling to Raducanu in Miami, rises one spot to a career high No. 16.

TOP AUSTRALIAN

Daria Kasatkina has the Australian flag next to her name for the first time in this week’s rankings. Coming in at No.12 she’s the top-ranked Australian.

Sabalenka Expands Lead

World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka increased the gap between herself and World No.2 Iga Swiatek as she claimed her eighth 1000-level title in Miami, and 19th overall.

Sabalenka, now entering her 32nd overall week at No.1, leads Swiatek by 3,071 points as clay season commences.
