Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

Five Eagles breakout candidates in 2025 – PhillyVoiceCB Kelee Ringo: Ringo hasn’t played much in the regular defense his first two seasons in the NFL, but in the limited chances he has gotten — as shown in film breakdowns from his 2023 season here and his 2024 season here — he hasn’t been perfect, but has shown promise in coverage. Ringo, still only 22, is very young for a third-year pro. He has all the physical tools (6’2, 207, 4.36 speed) to be a starting cornerback in the NFL, and he has had two years to get his NFL sea legs. Ringo will have to win a training camp battle over Adoree’ Jackson to earn the Eagles’ CB3 job, but I would consider him the favorite heading into spring practices.

100 days to the 2025 NFL season: Things to know, predictions – ESPN10 names to know: Kelee Ringo, CB, Philadelphia Eagles. The reigning Super Bowl champions used the draft to address immediate needs in their defense, which was left bare by free agent departures. But they didn’t draft a cornerback until Round 5, leaving room for Ringo, a 2023 fourth-round pick, to win the starting job opposite rookie star Quinyon Mitchell. Ringo has played fewer than 400 defensive snaps in his two seasons as a pro, but he’s just turning 23 this summer — the same age as some rookies. He has elite athletic traits to boot. If Ringo is ready for his moment, the Eagles’ defense looks adequately and rapidly retooled for another postseason push.

Top Eagles storylines heading into 2025 OTAs – NBCSPThe position battles. The real position battles won’t get going until training camp later this summer but they have to start somewhere. And there are several key positions with starting spots up for grabs going into 2025. Right guard: This has become an annual position battle for a spot that has a new starter pretty much every season. Mekhi Becton, who was the starting right guard in 2024, left in free agency to join the Chargers. The top candidate to replace him is former third-round pick Tyler Steen, who was a top backup last season. The competitors for the job are Kenyon Green, Matt Pryor and a few others. Cornerback: The Eagles moved on from Darius Slay this offseason and Isaiah Rodgers left in free agency. So that means they lost a starter and their top backup outside cornerback. The most likely replacement on this roster is third-year pro Kelee Ringo but the Eagles added Adoree’ Jackson this offseason in free agency and he should push the 22-year-old Ringo.

Post-NFL draft breakout candidates for all 32 teams – PFFPHILADELPHIA EAGLES: S Sydney Brown. Brown will have some competition for a starting role after the team drafted Andrew Mukuba in the third round of this year’s draft, but Brown – a 2023 third-round pick – has seniority and experience in the NFL and in Vic Fangio’s defense, which should give him the upper hand. Brown took on a starting role as a rookie before suffering an injury, which led to just one start in 2024, coming in Week 18 when he posted a 92.0 overall grade and 90.4 coverage grade.

The LeSean McCoy trade is just as bad 10 years later – BGNThe Philadelphia Eagles are one of the most savvy franchises in the NFL under the leadership of general manager Howie Roseman, routinely coming out ahead in most of their transactions. Whether it’s draft trades or free-agent signings, the Eagles just seem to have a knack for nailing it under the current regime. But there were also a number of tumultuous times with Roseman, and even an instance of a head coach completely usurping power back before the 2015 season. You know who I’m talking about: the infamous Chip Kelly. It’s been 10 years since the Kelly fiasco and a flurry of moves that were not well regarded among the fanbase. Perhaps one of the most notable and infuriating moves was the LeSean McCoy/Kiko Alonso trade prior to the start of free agency in 2015. I’m sure there are a lot of takes about the optics of that trade, but what about the actual outcome? Did the Eagles or Bills actually come out ahead when the dust cleared? Let’s investigate.

20 NFL clubs open OTAs on Tuesday – NFL.comThe OTA schedule, lasting four weeks, kicks off Phase Three of the offseason program. Teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team practice activities. No live contact is allowed, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills are permitted. While we’re not yet to the point of seeing live football, the non-contact drills get us a smidge closer. Prepared for your favorite team’s social media feed to be chock-full of highlights and clips. We’ll also hear from coaches and players about the progress of their offseason.

Detroit Lions adding veteran linebacker prior to OTAs – Pride Of DetroitPrior to the start of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) at the end of the week, the Detroit Lions have added another veteran player to their linebacker room. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Lions are signing Zach Cunningham. A former second-round pick in 2017, Cunningham has had stints with the Houston Texans (2017-21), Tennessee Titans (2021-22), Philadelphia Eagles (2023), and most recently the Denver Broncos (2024). Over the entire course of his career, Cunningham has made 102 game appearances with 86 starts. He was mostly a starter for the Eagles two years ago, tallying 85 tackles, four passes defended, and a fumble recovery in Philly. However, last year, he spent much of the season on the Broncos’ practice squad before signing to the team’s active roster for the final two months of the season. In the final seven games of the season, he played just 15 defensive snaps and 41 on special teams.

Washington Commanders Free Agency: Defensive line depth added before OTAs – Hogs HavenThe Washington Commanders announced another roster move before offseason activities (OTAs) start on Wednesday. Carl Davis was one of the former Dallas Cowboys that made their way onto the roster after Dan Quinn was hired to be the Commanders head coach last year. Davis wasn’t a priority signing or a starter, but he provided depth later in the season as the team dealt with Jonathan Allen’s injury. Davis was signed to the practice squad three days after Allen’s pec injury, and was active for three games during the regular season and during the NFC Championship game when Daron Payne was inactive.

The Cowboys need to upgrade the cornerback spot, but not with Jalen Ramsey – Blogging The BoysThis past season, Ramsey gave up a 70.8% completion rate and a 93.5 passer rating when targeted. That’s his highest completion rate and second-highest passer rating ever allowed. Perhaps most concerning, though, is that Ramsey gave up the 15th-most yards per reception despite having the 10th-lowest average depth of target. It’s not a surprise that Ramsey is showing signs of decline. He played at the highest level for a long time, being named an All-Pro three times and a Pro Bowler seven times. But Ramsey is past his prime now, despite still being paid top dollar. That makes him a poor fit for the Cowboys, who need someone reliable in the secondary without breaking the bank. They can’t afford to close the book on adding another cornerback before the season starts, but Ramsey cannot be the guy.

Could Jaxson Dart start more games than Russell Wilson? – Big Blue ViewWhen first-round pick Jaxson Dart will become the starting quarterback for the New York Giants is a matter of great debate. Could it be Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints if the Giants start the season 0-4? Could it be some time in the second half of the season? Could Dart just get a late-season cameo start? Could his time as the starter wait until 2026? Nobody, not even head head coach Brian Daboll, knows for sure. Starting quarterback Russell Wilson’s performance, the Giants’ overall competitiveness, Dart’s progress and maybe even Daboll’s desperation to save his job could all be factors. Somewhat stunningly, SPN’s Mike Clay is projecting that Dart, picked 25th in the draft after a trade up by the Giants, will play in more games than Wilson. In his annual projection guide, Clay has Dart playing in nine 2025 games while Wilson gets into only seven.
